A 60-year-old Joliet man and a 33-year-old Joliet woman were both arrested in connection with a disturbance at a local truck stop Monday morning. It was at 12:23 a.m. that Joliet police were called to the Pilot Travel Center for a disturbance. Officers learned that Derek Creal, 60, had an argument with his girlfriend, 33, Samantha Saucedo-Chavez. Saucedo-Chavez threw items from Creal’s vehicle on the ground and insulted truck stop employees. She was taken into custody without incident related to the riot.

At the scene, officers learned that Creal had been seen dropping several items into the company’s landscaping before police arrived. After checking this area, Joliet officers recovered cocaine, heroin, and prescription pills. Creal was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

While undergoing treatment, Saucedo-Chavez complained of a medical condition, and a Joliet Fire Department ambulance was called to the Joliet Police Department. As he was being escorted to the ambulance, Saucedo-Chavez lunged at an officer, punching him in the chest. She was taken to Ascension St Joseph Medical Center and during a search for Saucedo-Chavez at the hospital, officers discovered cocaine.

Derek Creal was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver within 500 feet of a truck stop.

Samantha Saucedo-Chavez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver within 500 feet of a truck stop, aggravated assault on a peace officer and disorderly conduct.
