Surveillance video shows man attacking employee and customer at a Butts County truck stop

Butts County authorities are looking for a man who started a fight at a truck stop.

Surveillance video shows the shirtless man walking into the business and starting a fight with another client.

Investigators say the customer was quite upset with what happened to him at the gas pumps. Apparently he couldn’t use his debit card. And then when inside to vent her frustrations on the clerk.

“A client came in belligerent towards the clerk and became belligerent towards another client and the scuffle ensued,” said Major Jeff Nix, of the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators released this surveillance video of the angry, shirtless customer returning to the Butts County Pilot Travel Center. And immediately, the video shows him having a fight with another man. Investigators say the man in black witnessed an angry customer rage at the clerk when his debit card didn’t work at the pump.

“He attempted to use a debit card on the gas pump that was not working and he expressed his frustrations on the clerk,” Mayor Nix said.

Video of a witness posted on the Sheriff’s Office Facebook page shows the scene outside the truck stop. The angry customer and the Good Samaritan struggling at the door.

From this video, the sheriff’s office released a snap of the shirtless man. The goal is to identify this man and charge him for the incident. The sheriff’s office also released a photo of what could be the man’s truck.

The Pilot Travel Center is located along State Road 36 outside of Jackson and just along Interstate 75.

Anyone with information that can help identify the man is urged to call the Butts County Sheriff’s Office.
