Person shot dead at Chester lorry stop; one suspect in custody, the other on the run


CHESTER – A suspect is in custody and another on the run following a fatal shooting Sunday night at a truck stop in Chester.

Chesterfield police have not named either the victim or the suspect apprehended in the shooting, which happened around 6:05 p.m. at the Pilot Travel Center on Ruffin Mill Road, just off Interstate 95. Officers arriving on the scene found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. and were told by witnesses that a car with two men inside had just driven away.

The victim was taken to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg, where she later died.

Police said the suspect vehicle was later involved in an accident at the intersection of West Hundred Road and Route One. One of the suspects was caught, but the other fled on foot.

The fugitive suspect is described as a 6ft 3in male and was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, orange scarf and red athletic shorts.
