The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) offers T-Series and E-Series certification tests that verify the proficiency of professional service technicians who work on medium-duty trucks and equipment.
Designed to identify and recognize medium and heavy-duty truck technicians who demonstrate the skills necessary to diagnose, maintain and repair various Class 4-8 truck and tractor systems, ASE offers eight T-Series certification tests. The tests include the gasoline engines (T1); diesel engines (T2); powertrain (T3); brakes (T4); suspension and steering (T5); electrical/electronic systems (T6); heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) (T7); and preventive maintenance inspection (T8). Those who are certified in the T2 through T8 tests are recognized as ASE Certified Medium-Heavy Duty Truck Technicians.
The ASE E-Series Truck Equipment Certification Tests are designed to identify and recognize truck equipment technicians who can demonstrate the knowledge necessary to install, diagnose, maintain and repair truck equipment and systems related support on all categories of trucks and tractors. Three tests are offered: Installation and Repair of Truck Equipment (E1), Installation and Repair of Electrical/Electronic Systems (E2) and Installation and Repair of Auxiliary Power Systems (E3). ). Those who are certified in the E1 through E3 tests are recognized as ASE Certified Truck Equipment Technicians.
