Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police issued a notice to tourists, pilgrims and truck movements on Sunday to inform them of travel schedules and travel restrictions for NH-44 during Amarnath Yatra 2022.
According to the advisory issued by IGP Traffic Police, Jammu and Kashmir, empty tank trucks and trucks up to 10 tires should cross Mughal Road towards Jammu.
Trucks up to 10 tires including those loaded with fresh perishables will preferentially take Mughal Road towards Jammu.
Mughal Road hours have also been increased from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for the time being, subject to daily assessment by traffic authorities.
The notice further indicates that the movement via the NH-44, trucks with more than 10 tires must move via the national road-44.
Trucks with more than 10 tires loaded with fresh perishables must reach Jakheni Naka/Qazigund Naka by 2:00 p.m. These trucks will be parked separately and will have priority when traffic is released, he said.
He said the movement of tourists in Kashmir Valley other than through “Yatra convoys” are advised to travel in Kashmir Valley only between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. and should plan their journey so as to reach their destination within that time.
In case the tourists do not arrive at their destination within the given time, i.e. before 6 p.m., the security forces will stop these tourists for the night at the nearest accommodation center, a added the traffic advisory.
